It's no exaggeration to say that everyone experiences stress in modern society. While it's true that without stress there's no motivation, prolonged exposure to high-pressure environments can negatively impact both mental and physical health. Stress seems ubiquitous, and excessive stress significantly affects our daily lives, work, and studies. Many people even develop anxiety or depression because they can't manage stress. Below, I'll share eight methods I've personally experienced to help you healthily release stress and negative emotions.

I. Appropriate Indulgence

When you feel physically and mentally exhausted, avoid internal conflict and emotional distress. Learn to rest and indulge yourself appropriately. I often go on trips with close friends, camping, and enjoying food and drinks together; or I spend a whole weekend sleeping in, turning off my phone, allowing my mind and body to relax and relieve stress. Appropriate indulgence is not recklessness, but an effective way to relieve stress.

II. Regular Exercise

Do you enjoy exercise? I personally like playing basketball and badminton. After a good sweat, I feel completely relaxed. During exercise, the brain is stimulated to release dopamine, making you feel more invigorated and happy, boosting your confidence, and thus relaxing your mind. Exercise has many health benefits, effectively promoting intestinal peristalsis, increasing lung capacity, accelerating blood circulation, controlling weight (for weight loss, haha), and improving physical fitness. Exercise also increases interaction between people—it has so many benefits! Everyone should get moving!

III. Learn to Talk It Out

When I'm under a lot of pressure, my mind is filled with worries and frustration, and I tend to bottle it all up. Later, I started actively seeking emotional support, such as talking to family, going to a psychologist, and writing letters to friends and family to cope with the emotional stress. I highly recommend finding a family member or friend you trust who is willing to listen to your inner thoughts and sharing all your pressure. Even if they can't solve your problems, the process of expressing your unhappiness can bring a sense of relief and a sense of clarity.

IV. Get Enough Sleep

Ensuring sufficient sleep is a very effective way to relieve stress. Lack of sleep not only affects physical health but can also create a vicious cycle, making your mood even worse. When I encounter something very frustrating, I just turn in for a good long sleep and let everything wait till tomorrow.

V. Listening to and Singing Music

Many people, when feeling down or depressed, put on their headphones and listen to their favorite songs, immersing themselves in the world of music and thinking about things that make them happy, thus forgetting their current troubles. Singing is actually another great way to release emotions. You can book a private room at a KTV with friends in your free time, or just sing at home with a microphone — as long as you don’t disturb the neighbors.

VI. Setting a Goal

I have a good habit: when faced with things that are difficult to change or that make me emotionally overwhelmed, I always calm down and seriously reflect on myself. Regardless of whether the problem can be solved, I don't complain or back down. I will adjust my mindset in time, set myself a small short-term goal, and complete it step by step. If you don't particularly care about negative emotions, emotional stress can actually be seen as a form of training. In the future, no matter what difficult things you encounter, you can face them positively and actively, instead of continuously wasting your energy in the quagmire of emotions.

VII. Deep Breathing and Meditation Relaxation

I've found that meditation relaxation has a scientific basis and truly helps me relieve emotional stress. When I’m feeling anxious, I take the initiative to adjust my breathing pattern and rhythm. As my heart rate gradually slows down, my blood pressure stabilizes, and my muscles relax, I’m able to calm down and regulate my emotions quickly.
Find a quiet and comfortable space, gently close your eyes, and take five deep breaths (inhale through your nose, exhale through your mouth). Inhale fresh air while exhaling, and release the pressure in your heart while exhaling.

VIII. Enriching Your Inner World

Stephen Hawking once said, "Life without joy is a tragedy." Many people habitually deny themselves and their efforts. In fact, self-denial is subtly giving yourself psychological suggestions, and over time, we become increasingly negative.
Therefore, no matter what, encourage yourself. Use your free time to read more, learn more, exercise more, and enrich your inner world. Finding joy in life will improve your mood, allowing you to face life positively.
Having read this, I wonder if my readers have learned how to release their emotions? I hope that each of us can face life positively and be happy and carefree every day. Keep going!
